A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE ASSOCIATION
The Rother Fishery Association was formed in 1872 by a forward thinking group of landowners who were concerned about the increase of Salmon poaching on the River Rother. Whilst the Salmon may have gone the aims of the R.F.A remain the same :-

1. to promote good angling practice.

2. to provide good quality affordable angling to local people.

3. to continue to protect and maintain the Associations waters and the surrounding countryside.

The Objects of the Association
The main objects of the R.F.A are to:-

1. to obtain by lease or goodwill, fishing rights for the Associations members on the River rother, or it's drains and feeder streams and to promote and safeguard the interests of anglers, fishery owners and lessees within the area covered by the Association.

2. to make recommendations to the relevant water authorities on matters relating to the preservation and improvement of fisheries within our area.

3. to take any other steps deemed neccesary for the benefit of anglers and fishery owners alike.

Membership
Membership of the Association is open to any Angling club or Association and the annual subscription is based upon the "per capita" membership of the club. The fee is currently £3.25 per club member i.e 100 members @ £3.25 = £325.00 per year. Where else can you get a season's fishing for such a ridiculously small amount !!!
